Looked at my swing on video and the one thing that struck me compared to the pros my instructor compared with is that my release starts too early, I need to create more lag, or perhaps maintain the load I create in the backswing longer, coming down to the ball. I'd like my wrists to maintain their cock and hinge a tad longer. Is there any specific drills for this purpose? I actually sat and went through five years worth of various golf magazines hoping to find anything elated to lag, but to my surprise there was nothing. Is this the last secret of the professional's world?

Most people that release early do so because they do not believe that the clubhead will catch up with their hands through impact if they maintain the wrist angle late into the hit.
The secret (if that's what we wish to call it) is to maintain the wrist angle until the hands are level with the right leg in the downswing, then as you release your hips, torso, shoulders, arms and hands through impact the clubhead will have no option but to speed up and contact the ball with speed.

I do realize that I need to maintain my right wrist angle longer in the downswing. I just don't know quite how to do that. The clubhead is rushing at a massive speed, way out there, and I don't want to slow it down. Thus, I was hoping that there existed some specific drill geared towards maintaining that elusive angle. I do have a weighted Momentus training iron. But I'm not sure lack of strength is the problem here.

Still no drills mentioned directly here. I appreciate the post because it is a priority of mine during the swing. I try to train myself to maintain the right wrist angle late into the downswing but one can overdo it and wind up leaving the face open at impact-not pretty.
Swinging smooth and slow from the top gives one every chance to keep the wrist angle but most don't do that and they rush the transition from the top, either casting, OTT or early release.
I find two things:
1. If I practice just letting the hands drop into the slot or nearly there and,
2. If I visualize the handle of the club pointing down the line while slowly coming into impact, these two things,
will train the lag.
I am very interested in what others and teachers will say.

If I consider the release of the lag angle it is not easy to come up with a specific single drill that will explain it. There are a few methods that do assist me: One is the Right Hand Drill, this almost takes the release away from the hands and uses the hips and shoulders to generate the rotational force. Another I mentioned earlier is Joe Dante's teachings on COAM. I have also studied Nick Bradley's teachings and he has some good drills backed up by great graphics in his book "The 7 laws of the golf swing" He pays particular attention to the relationship of the right arm and right leg in the release, I will not attempt to try and explain it here but rather recommend it as a read.
