Way too dark and quality is pretty bad...but:

    * You are loosing your spine angle early into impact. It looks like you are almost completely upright at impact. I bet you hit a lot of thin shots under pressure.

      hi greg
      thanks for the quick reply
      spot on with spine angle
that is one of the things i have been working on along with maintaining the knee flex.
can you or anyone else for that matter tell me what is the best type of camera to use for detailed video playback?

Most cameras have a "Sport" mode. This increases the shutter speed...but with a degradation in the amount of light allowed in. So you have to use this option in the daylight in direct sunlight, not at night under simple headlamps.

Hi Slats,Nice address position. Ball flight looks nice and straight. Good tempo. Good full body turn.Agree with Greg on the lifting. Try the head on the pillow feel at completion.Coming on nicely.

              Re: my swing

I agree with both guys above. Try to swing low and through the ball and get the head on a pillow sort of feel when you swing through. Also when you start your downswing your looking like your jerking the club down. Try and make a smoother transition from the top through.

Excellent point Cmays, not seeing the video from the side...missed that observation.

                    Re: my swing

Slater170, what club did you use, what distance do you normally achieve with that club and what distance did you achieve in that video? I think those details are important to determine if your technique can be improved. It certainly produces a straight flight. If the result is all I look at, then I see no need for improvement.

Without knowing those details, I can still deduce some intentions from your video. It appears that you begin with a very strong grip. It appears that you finish with a very open clubface. I combine the two to determine that your intention is to go under the ball to help the ball up. Instead, try a more neutral grip and finish with the right arm over the left. In effect, try to close the clubface by manually turning the club over or bringing your right arm over your left as you strike the ball. Your intention will change from trying to help the ball up to striking down on the ball. The result will still be straight or perhaps a draw but a tad longer and perhaps a bit more spin. As you strike down on the ball, you effectively deloft the club which accounts for the different result that it produces.

I notice that you straighten your right leg on the backswing and bend it on the downswing. Instead, try to do the opposite. Keep it bent on the backswing and push down with it on the downswing. I understand that your intention here is to promote a good shoulder turn. But as you straighten the right leg to allow a greater shoulder turn, you effectively eliminate the right leg as a source of power. Not only that, you also diminish your ability to control the club properly because by straightening out the right leg, you can only move down by bending it. If you keep it bent, you have the option to either bend it more or straighten it back up. So, the bent right leg on the backswing is good for both power and control. It takes a little getting used to.

Keeping the right leg bent on the backswing is also good for posture. As you bend the right leg, the hip will follow by bending forward. As a result of that, your back will follow that and straighten up. As a result of that, it will help in keeping your spine angle through the backswing and the downswing.

                      Re: my swing

Slater, Dark but there's alot of "hit" in your swing which is causing you to lift up prior to impact. Not a killer if you are using high lofted clubs but get to mid irons and your done.
Keep the grip pressure light, make a smooth transition from the top and, put that right elbow down to your right side pre impact position.

                        hi guys
took all your advice to the range tonight and things definately feel better.
managed to keep my head behind at impact and had the confidence to grip a little lighter and start the downswing smoother .no video to look at so not sure about flying elbow but the swing felt more connected and felt like my head was in the pillow!

i have been struggling with my long club 2nd shots and now i know why but by the end i was hitting my 4r hybrid 200yds with a nice little draw which hopefully will bring my round scores down a little!
                        p.s not one shot topped!

                        cheers
