  • Wrist action?

I was at the range to day and got into a groove with my irons where I was flushing my shots pretty good.

I like to try and take note of feelings in my swing when this happens, and one thing I noticed was the feeling of some kind of wrist adjustment near the top or just after the forward weight shift. I can't pin point when it happens, but I do notice it's there when the shots are good, and not when the shots are just decent or not good.

Can anyone tell me what this sensation may be?

FYI: I'm not sure if this is relevant:

I have a very steep downswing (the shaft is sometimes above my right shoulder...) so I have a hard time finding the slot.

    Maybe cocking the wrist?

Just a guess mind you, but you say you have a steep swing, if you have a little cup in the left wrist at the top, then flatting the left wrist at the start of the downswing will flatten out the swing path, drops the club behind you some, this may be correcting a flawty top of swing position, getting you into impact better position, when you don't flatten the wrist, you are back to the steep downswing. Mind you it is just a guess, without seeing the swing, it is impossible to tell for sure...Furyk does this same move, very upright, then flattens it out, at impact he looks just like everybody else on the tour.

There may be something to this, Navy. Thank you. Pretty impressive bit of deduction on your part. Well done.
