In the UK, it would absolutely be tax deductible, though the IR can be a little funny about food. Usually, if you're staying somewhere (hotel), food is claimable, if you're not, it's not. They have been known to be funny about business clothes - becasue it was claimed to be for the dual purpose of business and dressing one's self (test case involvoing a lawyers wig that wasn't claimable!)
Big bags = bigger sponsors logo = better advertising? I guess?
