  • Shouldler tilt vs rotation

Can someone explain, in English, the difference in a shoulder rotation and tilt as it relates to a one plane swing? Are their any drills to correct a tilt?

I always try to read cmays (aka golfone) updates. I just wish I could read and file all of them. They should be published. They have certainly helped my swing tremendously. Great food for thought.

Yes, it makes logical sense, bumping out the left hip leads to a power move.

I am a fairly standard Lesley King type two planer by default. I like to experiment with other swing types though and find that it can be beneficial to change style with some types of shots. For example I have started to use a Joe Dante type backswing swing coupled with Greg's RHD in pitch shots and can produce a really nice gentle ball flight that lands softly and grips.

I have tried a one plane swing and sometimes wish I had started out with it in my early golfing days, I can understand the benefits and ease that a rotary swing brings but it tends to play havoc with my worn out back due to the need to produce more spine angle.

Regarding one or two planes I consider that both types of swing need to produce two planes, the difference being in the one planer the secondary plane is parallel to the initial plane and in the two planer it is steeper in the secondary plane. Is that correct?

I still do not know the difference in a tilt vs rotation, and how to correct a tilt.

Stand up straight (no spine bend) and place a driver shaft across your shoulders. Now turn back and through, the driver should stay level throughout in a rotary motion. If you tilt as in a 2 plane swing the shaft will dip down somewhere in the action, normally as you get into the downswing.

Now bend your spine forward as at address and carry out the same rotation around the spine angle with no tilting.
