  • Back to the right hand drill ? Greg

I think I might finally begninning to understand this. On the backswing the wrist cocks up. No if you hold that position at the end of the backswing, you can cock the wirst up and down while maintining the position of the right wrist angle. Now this is the key - on the downswing, as you are turning on the foward swing, I have been feeling the right wrist cock down with the turn, a smilar feeling while holding the backswing cocking the wrist up and down. I really have been getting good results.

I think this clarifies a bit of a misconception I had that once the wrist is set at the top, you simply turn it into the ball, but I do not think this is true. I think I now see see that the down cocking of the wrist is critical while maintining the angle of the right wrist.

I hope this makes sense. Mike.

I would just add that I never really think about uncocking of the wrist on the way down, in fact I think most would concentrate on attempting to maintain a wrist cock for as long as possible. Centrifugal force will take care of you releasing the club.

If you don't uncock up and down you would miss the ball by a foot or so. I agree that you should not give it too much consideration to this in the swing. It is more of the swatting action that needs eliminating.

You are all right on. The back wrist's position staying in the cupped position and allowing the rest of the swing to create the forces to power the swing is what the RHD (Golf Lessons - GregJWillis) is all about. Swatting for power kills power and accuracy.
