If anyone has any tips on staying in control, staying calm and holding the lead during a tournament please let me know. I currently have a 2 shot lead with one day left and was wondering if anyone could help?
Thanks a bunch.
I'm a golfaholic, no question about that. Counseling wouldn't help me. They'd have to put me in prison, and then I'd talk the warden into building a hole or two and teach him how to play. ~Lee Trevino
Never think about your position. Only what you need to do to score well on that day. So stick to your original game plan just as it was on the first day.
You are there in the lead for a reason, so nothing else needs to change. Be aggressive where you can, and play safe where you have to. The others will play aggressive all day to play catch up, and if one gets hot, then good for him, but the rest will overplay themselves and make more mistakes.
If you happen to be in the group that has the guy making a charge, it usually comes down to match play style, so play it as such. When in the lead, let him force a shot to beat you on that hole, never give the lead up by making a silly mistake.
