  • ? about 1 plane swing takeaway

Do you take the club back to the inside or does it go straight back where you would be able to draw a circle around your hand and club head at parallel?

in the one plane if i am not mistaking does the club swing for a right hander over the right shoulder?

i am having a problem with keeping my club shut on the takeaway where i fly it open at times...then it flies open even more at the top.....by the time i get back to address the club is still slightly open.....

    Hi There,

I assume you have a pre shot routine, if so then put a small drill to remind you into this routine, at set-up simply take the club back halfway, ensuring the top points almost to the sky half way back.......

Mike Weir, does this exact drill and has done so for years..............most of us keep falling into the same fault time after time.

You can either do the MIke Weir thing or simply work with what you have and forget it, you mind will sort you out, not matter how you swing.............it's simple, as long as you swing exactlly the same every time your brain will correct the path to impact, to make you hit straight.

Watch this clip of Rod Pampling.......if you saw this at the range you would cringe, he's a successful tour player.

When YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. is up and running again type in the search:

    Rod Pampling Swing Vision.

Re: ? about 1 plane swing takeaway

      Hello!

If you're used to more of a 2 plane takeaway then the 1 plane takeaway will feel more inside.

The clubhead does still pass through the hands (down the line view) but does so more over the balls of the feet, rather than outside the feet/across the toes. In the 1 plane swing, get that right elbow folding, rather than rolling your wrists in the takeaway. This will prevent the clubhead from getting stuck behind you and off plane, as well as keeping it square to the path (border-line shut for a 2 planer) and stop it fanning open.

And yes, the hands will be more in line with the right shoulder at the top.

Here is the link to Rod Pampling, swing vision, just look at how open his clubface is going back.

It just proves my point that you can play with any fault in your swing, you brain is fantastic and making up for you flaws.

        Good Luck

This just proves that you can be over coached, there are so many different versions of a great swing.

          Just a thought.

YouTube - The Real Single Plane Golf Swing - "Little Moe" explains
            http://swinglikemoe.com

Them links tell you all you need to know about a 1 plane swing. I probably need to lift my hands up a bit more at address. The 1 plane swing looks like the way foward really.

Re: ? about 1 plane swing takeaway - Pampling??

Ziisus, why the Pamplin clip is entered into this thread? Original query was about one plane swing and Pampling clip is 70's two plane stuff.

I got to admit I have difficulties in understanding the original posting. trob2034, have you had chance to read Jim hardy's books? Fairly simple text and practises are provided in these books to master one planeswing...

                South,

Pampling is in this thread for two reasons, first it goes to show the thread starter that is ok to to have an open club face, secondly because this is very close to a one plane swing.................finally, ask youself how many tour pros have the same backswing, does it really matter what you do going back????

I say not, I was simply trying to enlighten the poster that you do not have to waste large amounts of time with the backswing/one plane/ twoplane whatever..................all you have to do is hit the ball with a downward blow, from the inside, rotating the clubhead...........that is the only thing tour pros have in common..!!!

                3 skills.........

                Ian.
