  • Dont always fight the right hand

As some of you may know i've been trying to help a good pal of mine improve his swing a little - he has lessons too but we mess about on the range and the course

He's been fighting a big pull lately and reckons he just cant stop hitting the ball with his right hand (the old top spin tennis shot). I remembered an old thread we had a while back about hitting and extensor action http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/g...wrist-cup.html

So I read through that again before we played today and asked him to feel like his left arm was dead in the swing. Use the right arm to pull it back nice and taut feeling the pressue of the right heel pad on the left thumb. At the top the right hand should almost feel like its pointing behind you and then drive down and through with that hand

He hit the ball the best ive ever seen him. He was amazed

What i'd like to know if anyone else here uses this sort of hitting pattern (as described in the thread referenced) and what, if any, tips and gotchas I can pass on. He still plays a little pull but he is hitting it great now, not fighting his natural instinct to let his right hand take over
