Taking the club straight back along the target line has been the single most important improvement that I have made this year. For the first time I take decent divots.
However I believe with the driver you need to shallow out your path and thus swing more around the body.
For me my position at the top with my irons is above my shoulder and with my driver adjacent to my shoulder.
