Target alignment?

How many people here do this and does it work?

Where for rh golfers, the right foot goes in first , set the club down and align toward target the place left foot then right foot. Faldo was selling a gadget that goes on the ground that was suppose to show the average guy how to align towards the target. I noticed some pros do it some don't.

Any opinions?


I pick a spot about three feet from the ball and square myself from those two points, it seems to work.

I always line up each shot from behind, select a specific target, align the clubface and then set the stance. I think the important thing is always to have a specific target. It's sometimes pretty easy to stand on the tee and see a big, wide fairway to aim at. I still pick out a specific target as I think that focuses the whole process.

I believe this helps me. But, is it because of the routine (ie mental), or is it because I consciously align? No idea. Still hit inaccurate / poor shots from time to time so it's no magic cure for anything.

I have been struggling with my alignment. I am a lefty and most shots go 20 degrees further left than intended. My playing partners are unanimous – it is my alignment..

I align my club to the target and then I stand what I believe is parallel to the target - I find that I am square and parallel to the ball but not to the target – when I compensate and get parallel to the target I find I am no longer parallel to the ball and I don’t feel comfortable… I have a major sight deficit in my right eye – and I wonder if this is contributing to my difficulties ...

James have you ever tried to line the ball to the target and find a spot, some sort of leaf, divot etc. about 2 feet infront of the ball and square yourself to the ball and the spot on the ground. That I think should square you to the target.

Or aim to the right more.
