Re: shanks
Man I'll tell ya what, after that disease infected my swing I didn't have a clue what was going on.......The bad thing is it could be a number of things, too close to the ball, over the top, swinging to much from the inside, etc.....I pretty much changed my whole swing because they were so bad, I got tired of hearing the shank is the closest thing to a perfect strike, well until there gone it is the worst as far as I'm concerned. If there's one piece of the golf swing that I believe in, it is, keeping the hands/arms in front of the chest. When I hit squirrly shots anymore it's because I haven't done that. Make sure you turn(get the right hip back) and not sway.
Hope some of this helpsLast edited by golfndawg; 02-06-2008, 09:49 PM.

Re: shanks
Not a long time cure but my two tips would be
1. Make sure your weight is evenly balanced on the balls on your feet ie not on your toes not on your heels.
2. When u step up at address adress the ball with the hosel. You will automatically swing more inside the line.
Finally make sure you are not lifting your head up and you are still looking at the ball at impact
fingers crossed for you.

It's brought about by a combination of any swing faults and, as golfndawg has shown, it can take an entire swing change (normally including ones mental picture of the swing) before the problem disappears.
It's just about as perfect a hit as hitting it off the toe. About an inch out. And with the clubface only being a few inches wide, an inch may as well be a mile.
Sorry to say it tommo, but to find the cause(s), you're pretty much gonna have to look at everything going on in your swing. That takes a while. But start in ernest now and you could be ready for the new season.
By all means post videos of your swing on here to help you, if you feel it necessary.
