  • Jumbo Grip

I am currently using a 3 wood that I have had re-gripped with a fatter "jumbo" grip. I have longish piano fingers and thought for the sake of four quid I would give it a go. I am hitting this club slightly better and it does feel slightly more comfortable in my hands. I can't say it has reduced my score, so considering the expense would it be worth getting the entire set re-gripped?

Larger grips cause the hands to be used less. You swing more with a dead hand the make the ball fly lower with less spin.

When I see a player hooking 1 shot then slicing another, I look at the action of the hands throught he ball first. If fingers of the langest finger can't quite touch the palm of the hand, then you have good size grips. If they touch or even overlap the palm, go another size up.
