GTO is back
Guy's you don't know what a relief it is to have the site back up...
You won’t believe what an ordeal I have been through with this... my world crumbled for some time.. It is a very long winded story, which I wont go into.
The basics of it are:
1. The main server hosting the GTO database failed.
2. The replication process for the GTO database to backup was not working, meaning, unbeknown to me the most recent database snapshot by the company was in 2007.
Hence, I could have uploaded a 2007 version of the site and let people continue to post, but it would have been a complete disaster to merge if we did manage to recover the most current database.
The hosting company has made sure that the server parts needed were sourced and ordered and for a $10,000 server this is apparently not easy... they put the new part in today and luckily enough the database was able to be recovered from the drive.
Amazing news for me... I cannot apologise enough for the outage. From my part there is a huge lesson to be learnt here, and personal backups will be taken weekly with the data checked.
There will be a lot of effort on my part going into GTO in the coming months, so new features to look forward to.
