  • Stiff or Regular??????

Hi everyone im new to the forums so this is my first post so any feed back will be very welcome....

Im currently playing off 15 and the best part of my game is driver off the tee, i play with a stiff shaft Ping g10 and im hitting it pretty smooth most of the time. Now my question for the forum, i was told recently that my swing speed is to fast for a stiff shaft driver and to change to a regular shaft to counter act the speed and my smallest of over swing......but i always thought that the faster the swing the more need for the golfer to have a stiff shaft in his club. Am i wrong??????

Based on your given information, I'm with Adjani.

Too fast doesn't equal weaker flex. It equals stiffer flex. Unless, of course, he's talking about your swing in general and not your swing speed, in which case he may want you to go softer to give you some clubhead feel.

Perhaps the instructor meant a regular flex in a different brand shaft. If not find a new instructor, or seek a further explanation from the original instructor. GJS

I find it hard to believe that you would accept the input of guys on here over a golf pro who has actually seen your swing.

I would guess that there has been a misunderstanding somewhere, maybe your swing is more suited to a regular shaft as you are forcing the stiff and the result is you have an overswing (breakdown of the wrist)

If you have a smooth swing a regular shaft may allow more feel and distance.

I cannot see why you would spend £x with a golf pro then second guess him with questions on a forum, ring the PRO and ask him the questions.
