  • Ball goes high while hiting with driver

    Dear pro,
Can you pls advise me so that I can correct my driver shot. This happen when I am teeaing. Ball goes very high and doesn't goes far. As I understand ball should goes with low trajectory so that it can go far from the tee. I am hitting ball in the right direction.

    Thnaks and regards,

Skying - Hitting driver too high

    Hi ravishekhar,

It sounds to me like you may be ´skying´the ball (hitting it off or near the top of the face of the wood). This causes the ball to imediately jump off the clubface on a very high trajectory, but generally goes straight. There are a few things that you can check:

    1. Check your ball position. It may be that the ball is too far back in your stance. Remember with a driver the ball should be opposite the inside of your left heel (for right handed player).

    2. Check that your weight is distributed evenly between both feet, it may be that you have slightly more weight on your front (left) foot, which would encourage a steep angle of attack into the ball and could cause you to ´sky´it.

    3. Check the height you are teeing the ball up. Remember only half the ball approx. should be above the top of the face of the wood!
