    Quick question...

    I've been concentrating on long driving for some time now. Well to be blunt, I'm a poor and can only afford the water range nearby, so floater balls of course. Also I only have a 3 and a 5 wood, got them for free. I can consitently hit 240-265 straight.

    What kind of difference would using a quality driver and real quality balls make?

      Haha ok call me ignorant, but I can't tell if that is a serious or sarcastic reply. 50% more distance seem like an aweful lot?

      To add a bit of info the 3 I'm using is a jumbo handled (says that on the handle) 'Pro.FX' 3 wood 16 degree and it has 17-4 PH on the bottom of the head as well. I dunno what most of that means if anyone could shed some light. The very top of hte grip says 'Lamkin'.

        Floater balls at a range will be the big difference. Get a new ProV and watch the difference. Then get a new Driver and shaft that is matched to your swing and Boom, you are hitting it as good as you can. There is no question it will help. You provided very littel info, so yes, the 50% more was a slight sarcastic reply...sorry.

          By the same token, you're also hitting a stainless steel 3w.

          By uprading to a Titanium driver and going with a real ball, it's not impossible to see something that is close to a 50% increase in distance.

            Ah alright, thanks for the info guys. LIke i said, i'm really ignorant as far as the sport goes. I've done some searching around, but honestly marketing hype is hard to tell from actual fact.

            I seem to have a decent natural swing, I dunno. I tend to put a lot of force into the swing, I'm sure there must me some balance of technique and raw power. Also sure a few lessons or even some pointers from somebody watching me would make a big difference! When you say, a matching shaft.. what does that mean? Like the length is matched for my body, or the shaft has to match the head?

            Aggain sorry, i'm just total noob but I do love smackin them balls out there. It's a lotta fun. Thanks again!

              Yes, the shaft is matched to your swing (flex, length).
