  • Mid Iron strike problem

I do not have a problem with the wedge to 6 iron, but when I try to hit the 5 or less, I immediately run into trouble. Apart from ball position, is there any advice I could work on?

I had the same problem, try shallowing out your attack angle with the longer clubs using more of a sweeping motion. It worked for me

      Re: Mid Iron strike problem

      Hi Guys,

Same old problem.......................you don't do anything differend with any club other than move the ball a little further forward in your stance to allow for the longer iron/wood time to get back to the ball square.

The problem is: your trying to hard to hit it, because its longer you don't have to swing harder, because the face is more upright you don't have to lift the ball into the air................

Just try hitting a few with a very smooth soft swing and don't make any attempt to lift the ball, it all in the mind (like the driver, first thought let whack it as far as possible) hit it properly first and then worry about how far it's gone.

p.s a good way to test this theory take a 8 iron and a 3 iron and hit one ball with each over and over with the same speed etc.

      Hope this helps

      Ian.
