  • Can't hit ball with the sweet spot

Ok, I've purchased a Nike Sasquatch with a regular shaft and a 9.5 loft. I took this driver to the range and I'm hitting the ball about 240 to 250 but in checking the club face, I noticed that the markings from the ball were on the lower part of the club face. I tried moving higher and lower on the tee and placing the ball further up passed my left heel to make sure I was hitting the ball on the up swing but for some reason I just couldn't hit the center of the club face. I also had some problems with hooking the ball but relaxing my grip and moving the ball more to the toe side of the club at set up the hook mostly went away. (strange but true) Maybe I'm all screwed up, I need help.

    GMAN,
I hear you! When this happens to me, I always go back to thinking that a slow take away will eliminate a lot of error. See what happens.

Instead of buying thoose expensive impact checkers, I stick a piece of masking tape very lighty over my club face, and the ball will impart the dimples or the ball to show your impact.

I an NOT a Pro, so don't take my word for this, but it works for me, and you can try it.

As far as hitting it higher, I had a problem with that too for a while. A big factor is your lateral tilt (to the right for right handed golfers) to get your head behind the ball. and wether you are hitting you ball on the upswing or downswing. if you have a lot of tilt, the further you place the ball foward, the easier it is to hit the bottom of the face. I have practiced hitting the top of my face to get lowspin and I place the bottom 5th of the ball at the top of my driver, (that would be to high for most) and place the ball inline with the outside of my left heel. But my head is usually at my right foot to hit the ball during my upswing and hit the top of my face. Hope something among all that rambling help.
