  • Change of Driver

I currently use the Cobra 440C with 9.5 loft and stiff shaft. It works really well for me. I am thinking of upgrading to the new Cobra 460. Does any body know what I should look out for in my investment, or should I stay with the same format of loft and shaft in the new club?
    Regards,
    Robert

    Re: Change of Driver

Well I think that you need to be careful in not assuming that all stiff shafts will play the same. Some companies stiff shafts are a lot stiffer then others, and there has been a lot of talk on this board that certain stock shafts are not as stiff as the component shafts you might buy directly from the company. As well as diferent shafts have diferent kick points which will impact the ball flight. So if you are thinking of up grading the shaft etc you need to be careful.

I would guess that if you like your ball flight, etc. with your current driver I would get the indentical shafts.

Also, There has been talk that when buying any club the degree listed on the club maybe off some so if possible I would try to hit the club first.

But you should be ok for the most part.

      Hi Robert,

Take your club to a clubmaker, and pay to get it blueprinted. This will involve things like measuring total length, weight, balance point, grip size, loft, lie, face angle, swingweight and/or MOI, recording bend point and shaft flex profile (if possible). Your clubmaker may even disassemble the club to measure raw stats like shaft length, tipping, clubhead weight, note any additional weight, grip weight, etc. Then, try and match your new driver to these numbers.
