I have been doing terrible with my driver this year! For some reason I feal like I am making soild contact with my ball but the shot dosent show that. I either hit it hard and low and it skims across the grass or I hit a high slice or pull the ball. I have lost about 30 balls this year off the tee (I golf every day though)!! I have tried everything. I play the ball off my front foot and it hooks or I duff it. I play it in the center and I take up about a foot of the earth and the ball goes staright but it goes around 10 yards. I tried playing it in the back of my stance and the shot is just terrible! I don't know what to do!! I think I have a pretty good swing becuase I hit my 3 wood VERY well. I also hit all my irons well (almost all the the time). It is just that driver. I am a right handed hitter so I keep my right elbo tucked in, my front arm is straight, I have a lose grip and I am not tense at all, I dont know whats my problem!

Footballfan34,
Sounds like the first issue is Ball Position. The ball position for a driver should be approx. off the left heel to left instep.
The shot itself, could be a few things. From the mental side of the game, since you ae struggling right now with the shot you will have a tendancy to come out of it early to see if the shot is good. This will contribute to the problem. Stay in it till you hear the contact and let your swing bring you up.
On the mechanical side, try a few things. Choke down on the club in small steps and see if the shot improves. Not knowing your height and club length it may be the club is too long. If this is the case have the club shortened and regripped.
Another thing to look at is weight shift. The weight shift with a driver takes a bit longer. This can lead to firing the arms and hands before weight shift has started.
Take a look at those things, it may help.
