  • Hand position

I'm having such a hard time adjusting my hands behind the ball with the driver. I press them forward with my irons as this helps me hit pure, but then when I set up with the driver I can't comfortably shift them back behind the ball.

Also, I notice that when I do shift them back and rest the driver behind the ball, the clubface closes quite a bit. So then I adjust my grip to square the face but that is probably not an ideal grip for contact as it is pretty weak and I'm a 28 handicap or so.

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

First thing I thought of was maybe you shouldn't be adjusting your grip...???

    Cheers

      Re: Hand position

You should consider ball position and stance.

For your driver place the ball 1 to 2 inches inside your left heel, take a fairly wide stance with your right instep just outside your right shoulder, let your weight settle towards your right foot, spine leaning slightly to the right with your right shoulder and hip dropping slightly lower that the left, your head should be just behind the ball.

When setup correctly and the driver face is behind the ball and square to target your hands should be in-line or just behind the ball.
