Type in 'driver' and 'slice' into the search box and you'll find bucketloads of threads about this. Indeed, it's possible that this is the most requested topic. Good luck with solving the issue!

If you are right handed and the ball goes 'straight right' then it is a 'push'. If it is curving to the right you have a slice. A 'pull slice' starts left and then curves to the right of your target, and a 'push slice' starts straight or right and curves further right.

Which is your ball-flight? We need to know so we can help you better.

it starts straight for maybe 20 yards, then turns straight right. i just started golfing maybe 3 months ago and this is the worst problem i have.

Okay, sounds like your club-head path is not too bad, so if i were you I'd get a bucket of balls at the driving range and try a slightly stronger grip (i.e turn both hands a fraction to the right on the grip). Try not to grip the club too hard and swing along your usual path.

Start off with your normal grip and note the flight, then turn your hands just a fraction to the right, take your grip and then hit a few balls, again note the ball flight. And continue until you are satisfied with the ball flight. Let us know how you get on.

Do not aim left to account for the ball flight, it will only encourage an out-to-in swing and a worse slice.

You have a very open club face at the point of impact. Quite possibly, you are getting your body ahead of the ball at impact. Make sure the ball is teed well forward (left heel is sound), swing, and feel as if you keep EVERYTHING behind the ball. Watch it soar long and straight.......

If it curves off just a little bit then that is a fade which is a very manageable shot. Not many golfers can hit a straight ball 100% of the time. I hit a fade with my woods and a draw (straight and then a little left) with my irons. In fact, many pros hit a fade off the tee.

If indeed it is only curving 5 or 10 yards then you will be in the fairway off the tee if you aim up the left hand portion of the fairway (i.e. slightly left of center). Don't aim too far left as it can confuse your mind and the body will try to compensate and you will no doubt slice the ball.

                Good luck.

Hi all, this is my first post and i have that problem too, i hit it straight for about 100 metres then it veers to the right, when i went to my pga pro about this he told me that my wrists were not rotating fully around and that meant my club face was slightly open. i have been practicing with just a half swing to rotate my wrists and it has been working to a small extent. if there any other exercises i can do to improve this annoying habit?
                      many thanks.

A good drill is try for the back of the left hand,to beat the club face back to the ball.
There was two teaching pro's at our club, giving an exhibition at our driving range. They asked the small crowd"what is the most important thing in the swing?",,,One person replied the legs, the pro got on his knees and hit a driver two hundred yards.Another said the arms,,he hit it 150 yds with one arm.
The thing the pro's pointed to 'THE SHOULDERS",,especially being sq at address, and the movement during the swing.Correct shoulder movement is essential they emphasized, but they were selling golf lesson's,and I never signed up to find out the correct movement of the shoulders.
I am satisfied with my game having been playing for 40 year's, 66 years old,and playing off 8,but if you are young,,, the new teaching methods that are pretty universal in the fundamentals,, do work.
