  • Proud parent.....

Well my lil boy Clancy will be 5 tomorrow - 15th October. I have another boy Marcus who is 7.

It is great having them with me on the prac green or out in the yard hitting/chipping balls.

What is great is they ask me to hit with them. I don't need to push em.

I don't tell them what to do. I let them do there own lil thing. As a parent, all I can do is make it fun, safe and teach the etiquette.

I wish someone did this with me when I played as a junior - focus purely on the short game. That is where the scoring is.

We chip and putt for points. I never take em out for long game. Every now I get a cart and drive around the course - them steering and me on the pedals.

Afterwards we'll go in the club house for coke n chips or a treat somewhere else.

So what do you with your kids. What games do you play and how do you make it fun and interesting for em?

I've got 3 (yours ages and one younger) and it's the younger one that comes to play. I made him an oversize driver with a cut-down junior shaft and he whacks balls around with it... absolutely loves it.

When he's 3 or 4 I'll let him start coming to the chipping green.

I take him out for a game and whip his Ass. Mind he is 34

My little 5 year old boy likes to practice a bit, mostly wedge and putter...

Any thoughts on how to make it fun for the kids - mainly short game practice.

Any games that can be played with the view of improving/enhancing skills subtly.

          That's what I am after.
