  • Can I make a quick buck?

    Hi Guys.

Would appreciate any info or advice on the following.

I have been involved in sales all my career. Recently, A client of mine has offered me a distribution agency for "ride on" three wheel buggys. Having done some investigating into the product I am fairly confident of the quality and back up available. I am wondering about any implications I may have to face from clubs regarding insurance issues or any other difficulties I could face. I am wondering how much of a market there would be for this product both with direct sale to clubs and individuals. Brian, maybe you could offer some advice?

    many thanks

There are a few Brians on the site so I am not sure if you are refering to me?

Anyhow here is my initial thoughts: Most clubs that allow or promote buggies have their own 4 wheel ones that carry two people and their gear, 3 wheel buggies tend to be single seat and owned by individuals not the club. I cannot see any particular insurance problems.

My club for example does not have buggies for hire and only allows personal one seat types for members that have a Doctors certificate showing they are incapable of walking the course. In this case the buggy is owned by the member, the club does have a storage shed where they can be kept and the batteries charged for an annual fee. I don't think the club would be interested in purchasing them though.

I think the biggest market would be sales to individuals although some clubs may well be interested in stocking some single seat types for hire at the right price. I guess the important point is what advantage may be to the club financially regarding the purchase price to rental against the 4 wheel type.

Finally: Thinking on this a little more, the main disadvantage of a two seat buggy is that you have to constantly be riding between each players ball which slows the game. If each player had their own one seat buggy the game should speed up considerably.

    I hope my ramblings help

      Many thanks Brian W!

I see your point about two seaters. Anyway, I will check out a few clubs and see what happens.
