  • USA disappointed some of us

At my club and several others I play the concensus on the Ryder Cup was that the US overall showed valiant grit in the way they played however the majority also agreed that Woods, Michelson and Kuchar really let the team down.
I believe this represents a cross section of the public at large because most would agree for the US to lose the cup would defy most folks expectations.
The poll was not mean spirited and it was conducted in a very objective manner.
Plain and simple, most would agree the US players could use a dose of humility and they certainly got one.

As an Englishman with two US Grandchildren I hope that this competition does more to unite us than divide. This competition is special in that it breaks away from that lonely place golfers live, where ego and money are foremost, to somewhere team spirit is king. It is good to win but it is also IMHO a reminder that this great game has a politic all of it's own.

I 100% agree Brian, too much of golf is about 'me' and 'money'. I know the Ryder Cup to some extent is still about the money bit, but at least there is some pride and passion in representing your fellow countrymen and show the up and coming kids in our sport, and in general, that being a 'good bloke' and having a 'team spirit' is what makes the world go around.
