Multiple holes-in-one

I'm seeing a lot of stories this year about golf groups hitting multiple holes-in-one on the same hole.

If you go to www.cnn.com there is a story about two women who accomplished the feat yesterday morning.

I read another article a few weeks ago where three people in a foursome hit holes-in-one at the same par 3 hole.

I'm not just hearing about these stories, I'm reading about them on various websites (i.e., CNN, ESPN, etc.).

Am I the only person having a hard time believing these stories?

Getting a hole in one is both an amazing stroke of luck and also pure skill, unfortunatley I have never had one and neither has 99% of club golfers.

We see pros get them on TV now and then but they hit more greens than we do and of course playing at least 5 rounds every week in great conditions their chances are much higher.............


When I read stories about some club golfer who gets two or three hole in ones in a round or consecutive weeks etc it is hard to believe............

I suspect that some greens can be taylored to take the ball to the hole, I think at Augusta that one par three pin position is geared towards a hole in one

No doubt when I get one I will be on my own and no-one will believe me...

i cant stand when someone asks how many holes in one i have. The answer is 0, however conquering the elusive hole in one doesent make one a great golfer. I agree i with ian...........I always have said that youre one hole in one is your only eagle but i'd take my many eagles from chip ins and par 5's anyday....those you dont have to buy rounds for everybody after the match.

I think Ian is absolutely correct when you talk about how greens are shaped and where pins are placed on certain days. I played a few weeks ago at a local course and as our foursome got to the tee box and we ran into the greens keeper and he said welcome to the hardest hole on the course.

All of us except for me hit the fairway. Two guys about 200 out, a woman about 160 out and me about 150 out, inside stakes of lateral hazard. The first guys hits the ball and it stops about 5 feet from the hole, AMAZING! Well at least we thought it was, the next guy puts his about a foot away and and the woman about 2 feet while I decided to just play my ball as it lied inside the stakes (GREAT SPOT/LIE) and I proceed to put my ball in the hole for eagle. Our group ended with EAGLE, BIRDIE, BIRDIE, PAR ... that hole wasn't showing all its teeth that day with a pin position that must have had balls funneling to it all day long.

Hole in Ones', I'm with ed (big fat 0). However, they don't all come with skill. I have been within 6" of a hole in one a few times (a womens' 6", so it's correct)!

On these occasions, I've hit a lovely high ball landing on the green, maybe a touch of back spin and voila just missed. One of my regular playing partners is a senior golfer 72yrs. He has had 2 (witnessed) hole in ones' in just over a year. On both occasions, he hit a 9W, it landed 50yds short of the green, punched it's way, leaped a bunker, ran along the green following the contour and slap bang into the hole. Justice!!, I think not. To top it off, he is in the 'hole in one club', so it only cost him a pound to get everyone a drink. How's your luck?

Funny how a hole in one is a testament to your skill, but a bad shot is the result of bad luck....
