I would be gratefull for any advice on how high I should tee the ball with my woods? Someone told me the ball should not be above the clubhead, is this right?

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: How High to Tee the ball?
The first rule of teeing up is; any time you're allowed to use a tee, do it. The exception is a short par 3 where you might want to hit a wedge and get some backspin.
That said, for both irons and woods you only want to tee it high enough to simulate a good lie (level with or just above the grassline). For your driver, you want half the ball above the driver at address -> The top of the driver should be equal to the 'equator' of the ball.

Re: How High to Tee the ball?
Anytime you are hitting a driver or fairway wood the ball should be as close to exactly half way above the clubface.
As for irons, put the ball on the tee approximately 1/4 to 1/2 an inch off the ground.
