  • No height or distance with drives

I've been playing for about 5 months now and I'm having big problems with my woods. I tee the ball just inside my left foot (I'm right handed), but I do not seem to get any real distance and absolutely no height with my drives.Does anybody have any tips?

There can be many reasons for this, most have to do with your swing.

your swing - have you had any professional lessons? If you have only been playing for 5 months and have not had any lessons, that is the first place to start.
If you have had lessons and you understand the mechanics of the golf swing, ensure you are transferring your weight to the left side during the downswing. Also, a slide will cause low, short drives. Use your big muscles (legs) to generate the power and smaller muscles (arms) to control the club head. Rotate around your left leg, not slide towards the target. Keep you head behind the ball until impact. Make sure your hands are ahead of the club head at impact.

equipment - the driver you have may not suit your swing. What is the loft of the club face? Is you shaft regular, stiff or x-stiff flex? How fast do you swing?

If you have a video camera, post a video of your swing for the excellent resources on this site to review and comment on.

you may be sliding your hips and not staying behind the ball, that used to be a huge problem of mine, i probably lost 30 yards due to that and the ball would very low. Since i corrected it my ball flight has gotten higher and my distance is back to normal.
