Re: Driving Range Distances and Old Clubs

It would have to be all or none. That's like saying the top 10 players are too good and giving them hickory shafts in all their clubs. There has to be a level playing field (all participants have to have access to the same equipment) and the winner is based on talent and ability alone.

Hi..Gord I know where you are coming from...

OK I'll give you one to chew over for a bit..

Club Golf is supposed to be sport governed in such a way that everyone should be able to have reasonable chance via h'caps

Then there are the Pro's..who compete on a level playing field using equipment which must conform OK so far so good

Why shouldn't a shorter player be given back the same chance to compete on a level playing field.. The big bombers generally have superior distance because they can generate much higher club head DUE TO ther physical stature..

For example You can't persuade me that Ian Woonam/Corey Pavin is not at a disadvantage!! compared to VJ & Woods etc...no comparision

Me thinks it's borders on physical Discrimination..

      of course i'm biased I'm only 5'6"

      Thanks..

They get paid to play golf. It's not the USGA's fault that people are short. Thats like saying in basketball, everyone over 6'2 has to play on their knees. It makes no sense to complain about height and limiting only a certain number of players. It makes me laugh that St. Andrews is longer now because it helps Tiger even more. The lengthened it so he wouldn't dominate it, now , in return, the plinkers get dominated

        plinkers vs. bombers great battle

You have to win to get paid?

If that were the case Philly would have dropped his sticks a long time ago.......lol

Again, there is always someone to prove the average wrong - this case: Charles Howell III. He is what? 5'8" and 140 lbs? Yet he is one of the longer hitters on the tour. Don't think that size and strength dictate the length of drives. It definitely helps, but doesn't mean a smaller player can't keep up with the larger players.
