    Hi

Ive recently been playing a lot on a par 3 course and have improved my short game massivly, (but for my putting, but thats a different matter all together). however when i crossed over to the full course, when it came to using my driver i feel i have no control over it and the ball constantly goes no where. how can i improve this?

I also found i cant get distance with my irons - i know the cause of this is my backswing which i have got used to not pulling it past my hip and this feels safer, knowing i will hit the ball accuratly with it, whilst getting the right distance on theh par 3. Does anyone know anyway to fix my backswing and get confidence in it?

    cheers. Ash.

It's time to hit the range, young padawan. It sounds like you've got a solid foundation to start your swing, but you need to incorporate a full turn from the sounds of things.

And please do recognize that your accuracy will suffer a bit as you take a longer swing.

If I was facing the prospect of having gone from half swings with short clubs to full swings with a (probable) 45" club, I'd probably be afraid, too!

Fear is the worst part of your golf game. if you fear a shot you are more likey to mi**** it. Confidence is what you need, to get confidence you need to get better to get better you need practice, but it is no use practicing the wrong things. practice the correct tech, not just go out and hope you get better by hitting tones of balls.
