  • my first month trying to play

    Hi All !

Thank you for all the advices and good ideas i am reading and finding here.
I began playing a month ago... I was not realizing how great is the Golf... during the last month, i was able to learn how focusing on a single task is the way of success...

I did post my video swing. I know i have a lot to do to make it better and especially, i have som difficulties to adjust to the club length.

What is sure, is that i had a lesson two weeks ago and it really helps me. I can use all my irons... but i still have troubles with woods... those are the hardest to play (in my mind).

I am thinking of taking some other lessons. Here in Québec, it is almost impossible to play outside after October... so i found a place where there are some indoor mat/net range.

i hope that i will have enough hability to try my first 9 holes the next summer...

thank you for all your advices.

    Yann
(I apologize for my "strange" english writting, i'm french speaking, and i try to do my best... this is especially hard for me when some of you are using some speciality terms or technical stuff... thanks again )

    hi
the best tip i can give you is dont try and hit the ball to hard, just work on swinging the club at a nice relaxed pace. you wont hit it as far but you will hit it where you want it to go more often.
    best of luck.

      Salut!

I'm sure you can get a round or two in, in Sherbrooke in November, sure it's a bit chilly. I have managed to play in November in Gatineau.

Also, check out this site: OttawaGolf - The Internet Resource For Golf In Canada's Capital (it has a Montreal and surrounding area section).

        Bonjour Yann,

Welcome to the forum as you will find out there are lots of people on here that love to help out with problems plus you will meet some great ones as well.
My adivce for a novice after attending the GTO UK event is to get yourself a copy of the book "Nail It" from 3skills golf tuition. I must admit it is a great book and within 20 mins from being taught the skill from the book by one of 3skills teaching staff I was hitting shots more sweeter and longer.

Hope it helps and once again welcome.

        Cheers
        Mark
