I have read on several threads the idea of treating the chip like a putting stroke. How about the grip on a chip shot? When chipping while playing a round last Friday I was still pretty inconsistent until I thought about using the same grip as I do for putting. This seemed to reinforce the idea of the putting comparsion and seemed to help. Any thoughts?

Re: Chipping Grip
For a short shot, do what is most comfortable for you. A chip is nothing but a lofted putt. You objective should be to hole the pitch. Make sure you are reading the break (from your projected landing spot to the hole) and judge the speed. This is a feel shot, so the proper grip is not that important as making solid cotact with thte face square to the target.

Re: Chipping Grip
My chipping stroke is completely different to my putting grip and my normal grip. It works for me, I get up and down around 9 out of ten times from rough. I have developped my chipping stroke so i can control my spin. Do whatever works for you but won't restrict you in the future.
