Re: sand wedge and spin
Use a ball like the pro v1 that minimizes spin, dont hit it quite as far, if that fails, play the spin!!

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: sand wedge and spin
The other option is that your wedge's grooves are worn out. When the grooves shallow out, the amount of spin a given club can put on a ball is decreased (as the clubs' ability to grab the ball is reduced).
There was a recent thread about getting more check on a chip - maybe check that one out.

Re: sand wedge and spin
Crazy thats got to be the best and most honest signature I've seen. We've all said it many times but its good to finally see it in Print. Be a great title for a book.
Forgot what you post was ????????? aw well never mind. Look forward to the next chapter

Re: sand wedge and spin
Steve, you need to practice your sand shots so you know what your distances are. There is no magic to it, it's something you have to learn. I'm sure at one point in your golfing you never knew how hard to putt the ball to the hole. You learned through practice. Same with chip shots. Sand shots are something you need to work on by actually practicing the shot.

Re: sand wedge and spin
just try this tips : if you wanna approach with back spin/drop&stop put your ball on your left foot ( forward) if you want to rolling ball put your ball on rigth foot , try with all wedges you have : PW,GW,SW or LW. keep it firm your left grip. Good luck. Remember 80% golf scoring on your Short Game.
Practice makes perfect.

Re: sand wedge and spin
Steve
Distance out of a bunker is usally controlled by how far behind the ball you hit( closer to the ball generates more distance).
To get the ball up quick open your stance, open your club face, sit back on your heels more than usual and aim left ( if your righthanded). Also practice with your lob wedge if you have one.
After a few hours practice you'll be surprised how easy it is. Myself like alot of other golfers would prefer a 30 foot sand shot than a 30 foot pitch because out of the sand it is so easy to generate spin you give yourself the opportunity to be aggressive and really try to hole each shot.
But practice is the key.
With opening your club face, open it then take your normal grip dont try to hit with open hands.
All the best for saturday
Brian
ps Do you know to bury your feet to get a firm base? meaning take your stance at address and swing your hips to bury your feet, the last thing you want when playing bunker shots is for your feet to slip. Swing easy its a arms and hands shot with a small amount of hip movement.Slide the arms through which slides the clubface through and under the ball don't try to hit the shot its grace not power.
