  • And then there was light....

Two moments that changed my game happened last night on the local pitch and putt. I have always hit stright but tend to land left of where I think I will. I did ask on the sight for advise which was helpful but still I landed left. After many arguments with my golf partner; on the lines of "I am aiming straight" "No you are left" "I AM aiming straight", "NO you are left", "I AM AIMING STRAIGHT" "NO YOU ARE LEFT" "I AM AIMING STRAIGHT, YOU #%$%#%" "NO YOU ARE #%$%#% LEFT".

Well last night just swinging gently to warm up by the 1st tee and realised that I am normally thinking about the swing rather than direction and noticed that if I stoped at the end of the follow through and looked at my feet and where I was aiming I WAS LEFT of target. So Before each tee shot I would carryout a practise swing and note how far left I was and correct my feet accordingly. By the third hole I was hitting every green.
As I said it was a P&P 100yrd course but landing within 2 feet of the pin every time instead of 6 feet to the left of the green does wonders for your confidence.
I said at the beginning, of what was to be a short note, that there were 2 things. The second was swing tempo. I read yesterday about having the feeling at the top of the swing of stopping and then the club falling on the downswing. So I slowed down my swing so that instead of trying to wack the ball I am just swing the club gently with control. OMG My SW had gone from 60 yrd, straight up and down to 100 yrds straight up and down. PW 125, 9 iron 140, can't wait to hit the real course again on Sunday
Just wanted to say thanks for the advise.

You should be more concerned about where your shoulders are aimed rather than your feet.
