    Re: putting tips or drills?

    Hi Gator,

The worse thing you can do when putting is trying to hit the ball a certain distance with your hands.

The idea with putting is let your eyes view the putt from several angles then set up and let your body hit the ball don't think it in because it will not work consistantly.
By letting your eyes judge the distance and speed there is more natural skills used and less to get in the way.

My son who is only nine years old, looks at the putt sets up and doesn't even look at the hole again just hits it and he sinks no end of putts.

To test this theory try putting a few on the practice ground with your eyes closed.

I once saw a video of Nick Faldo working on his putting line. He had a block of wood about 2 feet long and about 4 inch square laying along the putting line. He just ran the putter along the wood making sure the putter toe was always pressed against it.

It might not be perfect but you should be able to learn something about the alignment, path and feeling of your putting stroke. Like any shot in golf if you can't make the same bodily movements every time you won't get the same shot either.
