  • Greg's Right Hand Drill

After reading this drill over and over, I am still confused about raising and lowering the wrists as Greg mentions. I have a tendency of my ball flight going right, which I believe is being caused by an open clubface at impact. I am wondering if I set up with my hands over my left knee at setup, if this will stop the clubface opening. Also, could someone please explain how the grip gets involved in this as well....thanks. Re: Greg's Right Hand Drill

Were you able to watch the video? I pretty much explain the use of the hands and how they hinge there. Use the body (hips and shoulders) to fully rotate before impact. That is the trick to squaring up the face.

The grip is generally a slightly stronger one, so that helps promote the hands at address to allow the right wrist to stay cupped.

The hands over the left knee is probably a littel to far (but it depends on the club)...the driver is probably just about right having it over the knee. Lower irons will be more in the middle.

        Greg ?

I love the right hand drill and it really improved my consistancy. I dont notice my wrist anymore but when I check it its right in the cup i want. I have a question though about how much you bring the club up... in the backswing? I can swing without bringing it up.. or with bringing it up but I feel like I have to Drop the club down agian at impact... is this they correct feeling I should have?

You definatly have to drop it back down...that is the whole swing, up then down. Otherwise you wiff and miss the club hitting the ground.

I might be missunderstanding you question though...

I guess im asking... if I "should" be tilting my hands up in the backswing... then droping them down. I can swing either way pretty consistantly I just want to try and feel the proper thing happening.

            thanks!

Yes, Up then down with the wrists. The more aggressivly you do this the higher the shot will be. So it is not needed to be as aggressive with a driver (for instance).
