Claw grip putting

Does anybody use this method of putting ? (Chris Dimarco style !)

I tried it today and my results were mixed. I had 8 single putts in the first 13 holes yet 3 putted the last 2. I think I'm going to stick with it because the putts I missed were mis read rather than mis hit !

8 single putts?? think i'll have to give this one a go! I think it's acknowledged that with the longer putts the claw isn't so effective - if it was your first time its worth persevering with.........especially with 8 single putts! My putting is so off right now - i would be scratch if i could knock some putts in!

One of my playing partners uses this method when he is not putting real well and then converts back to conventional style when his putting stroke comes good. I have tried it with mixed results but have not taken it seriously. You almost have to imagine you are using a broomstick putter to get it to work.

I played another round today with the claw grip method and I was impressed.
I'm going to stick with it. I find it easy to do and I can get the ball rolling on the line I want. On putts 12 feet and under, I holed 5 out of 10 which is okay.

One of the worst things is people asking me why I'm gripping the putter like that. Yesterday in a Better Ball Comp my playing partner asked me whether I'd practised with it. He seemed worried I was going to let him down. I came "in" on 13 holes so I don't think I did that !

I use this grip as well.. very good on the 4 footers were your trying to save par. However i did change the claw grip for longer putss.. now i overlap my hands so they are opposite to what most people use but i hold my fingers straight down the grip rather than around it.. Its gets the same result with the shorter puttes too. Yes many people do give it an odd stare but they soon are impressed.

I agree with your assesment. The claw grip is very good at short putting.

I had problems when I had a very long putt of say 60 feet and when the green was soggy. You never feel you can reach the hole so you lose control of the stroke.
