  • One hand dominant putting

Been having a shocker with my putting lately. Even as I take the club back I can feel it going off line either inside or outside and that leads me to make a nervous jab at the ball

Anyway in an attempt to try ANYTHING to cure this I started having a very light left hand grip and being right hand dominant feeling as if it was only my right hand pulling and pushing the club back and through and my left hand just held on. Anyway this seems to have made a world of difference and feels much better, and im wondering if anyone else has a feel similar to this or if its just a transient miracle cure that will get me sooner or later

One thing I think happens when I hang on too tight with the left hand is the club is twisting in my hands. Using just a pull/push type motion with my right palm really seems to be helpful

Thoughts? I need to become a much better putter this year. Im convinced I can get my handicap down to 6 or less as i figure I'm losing about 6-8 shots a round with poor putting

    Re: One hand dominant putting

pnearn - this sounds like a one way ticket to yipsville to me! However with putting whatever gets the ball in the hole, use it! Seriously I dont think this is a proper cure for putting ails - letting one hand dominate another could lead to problems down the line.

I have two thoughts (and by the way my putting has not been great for a while so i am working quite hard on it myself right now - i am however good from 10 feet in).

first thought - read Dave Pelz putting bible - just finished it myself and have learnt lots of useful tips. One thing is that putter path is no where near as important as face angle at impact.

second - DO NOT WATCH THE PUTTER AS YOU GO BACK! I got in into habit of doing this and it wrecks your putting IMO. Just look at ball during stroke and concentrate on hitting it solid.

The above are just my opinions mate - hope they help
