  • a tip on feel

one of the biggest things in the short game is feel, but so many times I see people doing things that sabatoge them learning how to get feel. so here is my tip, ALways putt and chip the same ball, get a shag bag of those types of balls too. I play the pro vlx, got a shag bag of them as well, I put retired balls in there. If I go hit 3 putts and putt a rock flite, a lady precept, and a Prov1x my distance control, will be off. SImilarly, if I chip all three the amount of spin I get on the ball will vary so all three will check up diffently. In golf we need to take out as many variables as possible, this is an easy one.

you hit that rite. I live along Bucknell university golf course and have been playing what ever ball I pull out of the yard... just took several balls and putted under controled, all be it unsientific conditions on carpet. I was stunned to see the travel distance in diffrent balls.. wow. thanks for the great tip, I guess being cheep has it's draw backs!!!

In this game, golf balls and soft spikes are considered consumables.

shootin4par is right on. If you can see a difference in putting (the smallest amount of force you can place on a ball), what kind of difference do you think you'll see when hitting driver? Full iron shots? Even pitches and chips?

Find a ball that works for you, and work with it!

The same can be said about using a favorite ball when being fitted for clubs. If the club fitter uses a different ball than what the player is playing, then the fitting might not be 100% accurate once the clubs are delivered. Different balls have their own charactoristics with regard to ball flight. GJS
