        Hi Peter,

I hope you'll give it a good work out for a month or so and then love give these guys the benefit of your experience. Don't get stuck on the learning curve it can be brutal so if you've got any questions you know where to find me.

        Cheers

BTW, will the distance marker/calculator/calibrator thingy be available as an add-on or do I need to buy a completely new Boom if I want it?

            Hi Peter,

I'll have the calibrations up on the site in the next week or so - only for the Carnoustie Mats at this stage though.

The good news is that the new model is both models are calibrated the same.

Have a look at www.boomgolf.com/faq.htm after your Boom arrives and they should be up there then.

            Cheers

I thought the calibration thing was a thing you putt on the mat, not a chart!

Anyway, nice to have. Here's the same measurements in meters (directly converted using Google):

Setting Incline Boomerang Putt Equivalent Flat Distance*
                Level 1 9cm 2.5m = 45cm ramp + 2.05cm roll 4.10m
                Level 2 11.5cm 3.1m = 45cm ramp + 2.65m roll 5.3m
                Level 3 13.5cm 3.5m = 45cm ramp + 3.05 roll 6.1m
                Level 4 15cm 3.8m = 45cm ramp + 3.35m roll 6.8m
                Level 5 17cm 4.1m = 45cm ramp + 3.65m roll 7.3m
                Level 6 18cm 4.4m = 45cm ramp + 3.95m roll 7.9m

                  Hi Peter,

You're right, but by putting three sets up on the web site (slow, medium and fast) means you'll be able to work out the speed of any surface you use the Boomerang on, not just the surfaces we sell.

What's that saying - give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach him to fish...

I've only done the fast one so far which translates to our Carnoustie mat but Geoff Magnum said he would help with the other two - watch this space.

                  Cheers

... and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Have just received mine in the UK after several weeks of waiting for a friend to bring me one back from the USA. TREMENDOUS ! What a great feeling when that first ball stays in. This product is everything it says on the box and I am well pleased with the purchase....... roll on the the good weather !

                          Re: Boomerang Putting Aid

I felt the need to reply to any non-believers. I've had the boom for nearly a year now and and couldn't be happier with the results. You can set it up anywhere and work on your stroke any time. I think learning distance control comes easy once you learn to make a ball die off into the hole and you can see whether the ball is going straight, on line. My pre-putt routine on the course consist of two large swings to mimic chasing the ball to the hole with my putter head, directly taken from Mr Moores video. I can't describe in words how much that one action helps me get an idea for the speed I want and how much I have to move my putter to apply the speed to the ball. To me, I don't care about what degree the slope is inclined to how far i'm hitting, its just the learning the feel of a stroke and how to make a golf ball go a certain distance without running 3 feet by it.

The boom helps me learn a proper stroke to hit the ball in a line to the target, and even though it doesn't teach you to read the break...I have a great idea of the speed I want and in turn (with knowledge of the speed of the green of course) I can see the path the ball needs to travel at the speed I want to fall in the hole. Not 3 putting 6 times a round helped me break into the 80s(albeit the high ones ).

Are there better devices out there? I don't know, the boomerang has filled my need for a putting practice/training aid. I had one of those astro turf kidney bean shaped mats before which now belongs to one of my friends. If it's lost/broke/stolen I will have another ASAP.

                              Re: Boomerang Putting Aid

I just bought one, should be here in a few days. Mainly bought it because of how solid all of the reviews seemed to be. Another thing I liked was that the PGA pros that were backing the boomerang weren't guys that you often see backing training aids, like Vijay Singh. He backs almost every training aid there is on the market.

I read that it helps a lot with pace and distance control which is definitely not something I'm getting from my old ball return mat that hardly returns it anymore anyway.

Can't wait to get it, I'll post a review after I get sometime to use it. High expectations after all of the reviews I've read. The main thing I saw someone say was to stick with it because at first it's realy hard, but I love putting, and putt on my mat probably an hour a day already so I don't think it will be a problem.

                              Hit 'em straight!

                                hi gatorguy
it is hard at first getting the right pace of the second ball to knock the first ball out and then doing it maybe three times in a row is something to aim for once you start knocking the first ball out. it is hard but worth sticking at it till you can do three knock out in a row.
then when you do go on the golf course its amazing how good you feel when putting and having to lag or to hit the ball that bit harder to go up slope.
it can be adjusted for hight and there is a easer setting and a hard setting so start off easy and work the cup higher and when in the high setting its hard just to get the ball to sit in the cup and it does help you judgment of pace better than any other putting aid.
                                cheers
