In the post [Two putt targeting principle], reference was made to the two shot targeting principle used by sport shooters who use circular targets. A target suitable for practice putting can be easily constructed which is used same way that shooters use their target).
The Putter's Target (see Attached Thumbnail) consists of two parts: a Target Line, and a Target Surface.
The Target Line is color striped and is centered over the hole. At its center is a black band with the width of the hole. Along the target line on either side of the hole band are bands of color alternating with white. It is suspended above the green far enough to allow a ball to pass underneath, and it is supported on the green at both ends.
The Target Surface can be added above the Target Line. It is supported at the hole center. It has colored semi-circular bands which match the bands of the Target Line.
Using the Putter's Target is used in much the same way that circular targets are used. For example, following the two-putt targeting principle and with the Putter's Target aligned with the actual target line:
1) Aim 1st ball at hole.
2) Observe which color band on the Target Line that the ball passes under.
3) Choose same color band on high side of hole, either by following the band on the Target Surface or picking the matching color on the high side of the Target Line.
4) Make 2nd putt directed at this color band.
