  • Wind Effect on Putting

Please advise how to compensate for the wind effect on the putting green.

    For example:
On a FLAT putting green, how much leeway needs to be given for the wind of abt 20 miles/hr.
    Thanks in advance

      Re: Wind Effect on Putting

The effect of the wind is going to depend alot on the stimp, and grain of a flat green. also, the longer the putt, the more effect the wind will have on the ball. The slower the green, the less effect the wind will have. If the green is fast, the wind will have more of an effect. If the wind is blowing against the grain it will have less effect. Blowing with the grain will give the wind more effect on the ball track. In other words it is the wind speed versus the green's resistance to it. Knock the ball close enough to the pin to take the wind out of the mix. GJS
