  • Pulling my puts..

    Hello!
I've started to pull my puts to the left. My aim and alignment is good so it must be something wrong with my stroke. Can anyone help me with some exercises?

    Samson,

You're shutting the face down through impact, hence the pulls. Especially when putting, the angle of the face at impact determines ball direction.

There's a 2x4 drill - you lay a pair of 2x4's (lumber) parallel to each other just a little wider than your putter head. Putt so that you don't hit hit the lumber with either your ball or your putter.

Had/still have the same problem and pro showed me video showing that I was peeking at the hole too early which changed my shoulder line making me miss left. Could be useful just concentrating on keeping the head perfectly still?

Check your ball position. If you are right handed...don't let it get too far left of center. This will cause pulls and too far right of center will cause pushes. I don't know that this is your key but put some thought to it. People also tend to pull when they have a long backswing with a short follow through. Make sure backswing and forward swing are about the same length, hope this helps!

Try letting the left hand control the entire putt. From the takeaway to the stroke. This should give you a smooth takeaway and finish. You maybe gripping the club too tightly with the right hand and letting the right hand also control the swing. If you grip the club too tightly with the right hand (assuming you are right handed) there is a tendency to rotate the face closed. Try gripping the club with just your right hand and squeezing hard on the grip. You should see the club rotate left. Hope this helps.
