    Hi everyone!
When I posted on the newbies forum (not that long ago), I posted:
    Qoute:

    "
Hi, I'm new. Looking forward to browsing the site, and learning more about how to improve my golf .

    Oh yes, and because of the little lightbulb by the side of my post...I've just had an idea about how you could improve this forum. Instead of having small little 'hello, newbie here' threads like this one that only get a few posts, how about creating one big thread titled something like;
'New people post your introduction here...'
Or something of that kind, and then any new people merely post in that thread, and get welcomed by other more prominent members in that thread too.

Other things you could have in this forum is the FAQ's, and little things to help new people around the site. That way it wouldn't look that intimidating and new people would only have to post on one thread, which would be easily acessable, instead of having to start a new thread of thier own, which takes up a lot of unesasary(sp?) space.
That way, we could actually shorten the newbies forum down to one page, I should think.

 Sorry! I didn't mean for my first post to be that long...
well, anyway, it's just an idea

    Sharp .

*Edited* - ok...no replies yet. I've just found the forum for improveing the site, so I might post this there sometime.
It would be nice to have a 'welcome' though..."

    /Quote.

Anyway, I've finaly got round to posting that here, and I still think its a good idea. I'm not sure how to put up a poll or anything like that yet - or if I even can. But I'd be pleased to have some feedback on this idea and see what you think of it - and whether it could be improved in any way.

    Sharp.

And another Idea I've had is - well is it possible to put an 'expireing date' on some of the threads? Or just have someone with some free time on their hands to move around the forums deleteing no-longer used threads. (ie, ones that haven't been posted on for a month+)
Because that could cut down on the intimidateing factor too. I'm generally someone who would read every single post - but I've just given up in this site!

        Hi Sharp,

Try the search function. I agree that it can be intimidating opening a forum and finding 26 pages of threads.

Search for things you're curious about (or, like most new posters, just ask your question).

I know there's a few people on this site that won't post if their point of view is already stated (I'm one of them).

Welcome to GTO - IMO the most well behaved online golf forum available, with friendly, knowledgable posters.
