    Re: New Blog/Journal System

I used to think the same as you two (Brian & the Dog) - and, for sure a working comment system would be welcome - however my views are changing slightly.

I now tend to start a post in a forum and IF it is something that I want as an easy accessible record then press the "Blog This" icon. If the post is such that it provokes a "conversation" then fine its in the right place if not then as a new Pilgrims Progress chapter its also in the right place.

Of course if all I've posted is an analysis of which LPGA members would look best in a) Hollyoaks b) a skimpy bikini then it is probably not worth blogging but might provoke a more interesting conversation.

Yeah, I know what you mean - and it seems this is a workable solution - that is, posting on the main board with either the link to the blog, or a duplicate copy. I guess it's my IT background that makes me twitchy - the first rule of IT is 'duplication is redundancy' so though it's a system that works, I'm not sure it's ideal.

      a) Rebecca Hudson and b) Natalie Gulbis, btw

        Nice choices.

Since the data isn't entered twice we could claim that this is replication not duplication and in essence that the Blog provides a back up to the thread.

Oh hell its just a work around until the comments get fixed.

OK I have to say I don't like the new blog system. If someone makes a comment that is longer than 1 line, you can't read the rest. It kind of defeats the whole object of interacting with other members about your/their golf game. I see most people post each new entry as a new thread in the forum as well. I guess I will have to do the same until it is fixed.

Did I miss something? Are the journals gone and the blogs been reset?

I kinda asked the same question about 3 weeks ago maybe more ,perhaps in a different way.....But never got an answer........As far as I know my journal is history.

                    Sorry guys... I missed this

I posted an update on the new new blog system a while back HERE. We had major issues with the previous blog software, but since the switch to our new blog system all has so far been good. The update includes all the finer details.

That's what I'm trying to figure out, but can't get a straight answer........On me it says I have no journals or blogs and don't understand why...

The new system is an improvement; comments work, it seem you can (though I haven't tried) effectively "subscribe" to a journal. However what I think the guys are asking for is for the old journals / blogs to be imported so that their "golfing history" is in one place.

At the moment the blog vendors have not released any import scripts from other Blog systems... the bad news... until they do this the old blog posts will not be viewable. The good news... they are not lost, just awaiting to be imported. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Enjoy the new blog system. As I mentioned in the other thread this blog system has been developed by the forum software vendors and is the one that we will be continuing with in the future as they provide great products and support.

                            Hope this helps...
