Re: Forum Participation
All good input but I would like to add some food for thought,
- repetition,
- *****iness.
Albeit there are new members joining and contributing but mostly same ol same ol. What I mean is that when the same reponse has been typed a couple of times, one is less likely to contribute to that post again.
Secondly, I have noticed that some of the contributions have become attacking/personal. Everyone is entitled to their view and it should be respected, even if one disagrees with it.
Just my 2 bob's worth.

I have been a little busy of late, but you will notice some changes on the site shortly, hopefully this will liven things up a little
Well here we are deep into the golf season and my original thoughts about a decrease in participation have been born out. I used to always get plenty of notices from this board for posts to which I was subscribed but it slowed to a trickle and hasn't picked up that much. I still like the structure of the site and get some good information occasionally but it has lost a lot of good regular posters over the last couple of years. Oh well. There are many other good resources on the web so there is no lack of information to be found. I always wanted to see this one to continue to grow though because it was the first one in which I seriously participated. For a free site it has a lot to offer and the web page design that is top knotch.

Re: Forum Participation
I have been pussy footing around this and some similar threads but have now just about had enough of the whinging.
Let's get real! If people want more discussion then start posting or shut up, it always sounds as if there's someone else to blame. If people want to discuss golf or ask for advice then great, if they don't then there is not much to discuss, "finito".
This site has a good community and some great resources compared to many of the other golf sites I have ventured, it is developed and run well and has something fairly unique to such sites, a good sense of humour.
We keep hearing this regurgitated waffle regarding people like Cmays, he committed Harri Kari, he was not "Chased off" and in my honest opinion was a liability due to his manner and incomprehensible writing. Go-Low decided to leave of his own accord, shame but there it is. Shooting4par, Aftford, Bulldog and many more good posters have done the same and why not if that what they want.
FFS, lets get over it and move onLast edited by BrianW; 06-23-2008, 02:03 PM.

Re: Forum Participation
hi
i enjoyed posts from Aftford, Bulldog, shootin4par, and Go low and Cmays and all added to this forum in lots of ways but none of them were run off, all left by there own will and i like many were sad when they did leave as they all had so much to offer.
the whole point of the forum is to help each other and we will give different opinions from time to time but it should be done in a manner where you do not go out with the intension of insulting each other.
when we have different views then we should discuss them but not get into trading insults.
this site has always been friendly and helpful to all and i hope it continues to be with the help of it members.
by all means put your point across but remember we are all trying to help each other on here.
cheers

Re: Forum Participation
Here here Bill,
It was unfortunate that these guys left, however you are correct with you're point about personal attacks..........that was the problem.
The idea of the site is for anyone to ask a question looking for advice, recieve answers then follow the line of enquiry that you feel is best for you. It is not the idea to confront the mailer about the substance behind his advice.
Thanks
Ian.

Re: Forum Participation
hi golfinguy
the moderators did say that Cmays had removed his post and they had not removed it if i remember correctly.
its a real shame when you get bad feeling between members and it get down to name calling.
I'm sure thats something we don't need and if you disagree then say so and why but there is no need to start name calling just because you do not agree what the person has said.
its to easy to end up forgetting this is a help forum and not for using it to score points of that person.
the 5 that left all contributed to this forum and i do miss there input and they all made you think about the game and thats what we want to think, learn and find new way of playing this great game better.
cheers

I said "lets get over it" That's plural.
People can post here or not, it's an open forum. However, there are rules of behaviour that should be self regulating but unfortunately some people are not capable of this, Cmays was one of these people. He had repeatedly resorted to rude, personal and offensive remarks to a number of members, he was taken to task by the Moderators and asked to discuss the situation, he decided not to. He had made many offensive posts so the decision was made to remove them. I think this was more a case of self destruct by him.
Your statement "You want to call it whining because it suits you. Get over yourself Brian" is a contradiction of your own standards. Am I entitled to an opinion, or is that reserved just for you?
So! once again, "Lets get over it" and move on please.Last edited by BrianW; 06-27-2008, 11:24 AM.

Re: Forum Participation
Well its a year since this post was started and I have to say..unfortunately things are not looking much better.
Its damn quiet out there.
Personally I found the posting of cmays incomprehensible and I would be willing to bet that they scared a lot of the newer members away from posting on this "experts" forum.
Are we still getting new members post in the welcome forum? Maybe we need to go there and ask the new members something about themselves or their goals or experience or *something*?
This used to be a great place to laze away the hours... I havent seen a new thread in months.
