Re: hitting iron fine but slicing driver bad
Well, what i could see in the DTL video (video #2), your alignment looks (could be the camera position) to be open and facing left, however your club comes straight back and thru, promoting a fade/slice.
Also, is there any particular reason why you are hitting the driver without a tee? A lie in the rough is quite difficult to hit the driver with. Just checking to be sure I see what i saw. I hope this makes sense! lol

For a drill.... how about turning a door knob.

Try hitting some short pitch shots with no right hand on the club. Really emphasize getting the ball to start at or even to the left of the target.

Re: Jumbo Golf Grips
I'm concidering these grips myself. I'm happy with my swing, but tend to hit a draw/hook, right at the moment when I least need it. It always seems to me that it is the club grip moving in my right hand that is the problem.
Maybe this will be the cure.Last edited by Battalion; 09-08-2011, 07:44 AM.

Talking Golf Online
This is a video I found and really got a lot out of and wanted to share with everyone. Paul Wilson from Revolution Golf talks about the importance of your golf swing being mostly a shoulders and legs swing. Basically keeping the arms as quiet as possible and letting the bigger muscles do the work.
I have personally worked on this recently and played some of my best golf. It eliminates a lot of push / slice type shots and enables you to develop a slight draw. The golf swing feels easier with less effort and the ball contact is much more solid.

Re: Jumbo Golf Grips - Validation of opinions
Couldn't have put it better myself. I realized there was a lot of "room"in my grip and did not want to grip tighter as that causes other problems. I decided I needed the bigger grip and just couldn't work out why there weren't many around

Re: Super fast hips
Thanks for your in put Go low and yes I use to spray the ball every where but I've been working on it and it has got in a lot better. Abd yes when u get to the top I turn my left hip back and behind me and it just pulls everything. I've try many other techniques to swing the club like arms only and leave lower body behind. Lateral move, shoulder, full body, the kinda squat move and many more, And I always seem to come back to the hips spinng move it work well I hit about 280 and 300 when everything is perfect but I feel no power what so ever when I make contact but when it doesnt work i can end up 2 fairways over with a super high push slice. What should I do let my arms fall then begin to turn when there about waist hight and thing would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

Re: Super fast hips
Without taking away anything that has been said already, I would suggest that maybe you are spinning out your hips and leaving your upper body so far behind that you are getting your right elbow stuck behind your right hip. This can create big pushes or force you to redirect over the top and slice the ball.
Your right elbow needs to lead your right hand in the downswing, it should drop down infront of the right hip with the clubhead lagging behind as explained by Go Low.

Re: Using driver with 9.5 or 10.5 degree ?
driver loft is different depending on where you hit it on the face and angle of attack , the bottom half will have less loft than the top because of the shape of the face,,,its not flat but rounded,,,hitting balls offline is caused by swing path and face alignment when it hits the ball,u can hit just as bad shots with a 9.5 as you can with a 12,13, 14, degree lofted drivers, take some lessons and get a swing that hits from the inside so you can use any driver, you need a swing not a driver,is your ball flight a high slice, low slice, or high hook or low hook,,,,you didn't mention your ball flight as that tells all about your swing ,lets start with your swing,,,,,,,being a golf instructor I am betting you slice the ball ,

Hi all,
I'm new here and this is my first post. I have possibly the worst slice in history. I became interested in golf about 6 months ago and now I'm completely hooked. I'm not a member of a club yet but when I get my swing sorted I will join. I am by no means a good golfer but I took 20 shots off my game over the last 4 months. I bought some new clubs (Nicklaus Polarity HCT) and then got a lesson from the local club pro. Since then I can do nothing but slice the ball - and I mean bad..... usually it will veer right and scuttle along the ground for 50 or so yards and even when I do manage to get it airborne it still slices pretty bad. Any help is greatly appreciated. THX

Re: One plane or Two
I am a little surprised at the lack of interest in my thread, thank you jack for your imput. personaly I had a fair bit of trouble with this issue myself when starting, was allways told to stand tall at address as in a two plane swing, but thenI would try and swing the club on the same plane as my shoulders as in a one plane. The result was that I would straighten my spine in the backswing resulting in a a pull or a slice. So my advice to anyone having trouble with their swing, check and see are you a one planer or a two. It might be worth checking this site out.
