  • Drills for a F***ed up swing?

Anyone out there have any really good drills that i can use on the range or at home for:

Flat backswing(main concern, this is leading me into all kinds of trouble inc shanking, slicing, hooking, and fat shots)
Maintaining balance & Height through the swing
    Coming over the top

The best drill ever for balance, tempo and connection is hitting balls with your feet together. Whenever your swing starts failing swing your club back and forwards with your feet together until you start to feel connected. Hit some balls on the range like it, you will be surprised how far they go. After a bit open your stance and maintain the centered and balanced feeling. During a bad spell in a game do it while waiting your turn on the tee.

You may not have played too long or maybe 30 years anyway this will help you understand the swing plane and what it does when you get on track so to say.

      1. You swing flat you say. ( practice with you ball below your feet say 6 inches below ok) if you have a flat swing plane you will miss the ball I would say.

Practice the upright swing plane needed to make contact with the ball below your feet. Then put the ball on a flat and use that same upright swing thought/plane you have practiced and away you go. Job done.

      2. When you start hitting sliced shots then come back & I will tell you to practice with the ball above your feet about 6 inches.

Note today’s cure is tomorrows fault..

Not enough lifting of the arms...if the club goes to inside this causes the arms to wrap around the body. In position 2 to 3 of this video lift the
club up with you're right arm (left if you need help)) not the right wrist...don't go any further in the backswing till you can get the club-
head up. One last thing in a flat backswing the left shoulder has a
tendency to get higher you feel it in your right side tilt the left shoulder
down. Practise these position in slow motion...in front...to the side
            of a mirror.

It’s a great video and should be used for reconstruction at any time your swing breaks down.

I use a similar process to examine my swing faults, the impact is so important to all golfers and even though what went before impact may be totally different from player to player the impact is often the same on the pro circuit (Strong solid and free flowing) we must try and match that impact as best we can.

I will add that in repeating the advice shown in that video and gradually increasing the tempo to a point that matches your swing speed then slowing it all down again to a speed that can be felt/seen/checked by you will show many points in the swing that can be ironed out as you continue to practice.

                  Now working.
Also study his pivot motion barely moves off the ball.
