  • Two rounds, same course ??

To say this game we all love is a fickle mistress would certainly be an understatement. With warming temperatures and the course at my new club in fine condition for this time of year it's wonderful to be out there. I enjoyed my round on Sunday playing with my buddy and a couple of members, I struck the ball well, only missed three fairways and those tee shots were in the first cut.
My short game was excellent and I knocked in some nice putts, a satisfying six over 78 was the end result. I then played in the senior men's opening day, what a difference a couple of days made. I missed most fairways by hitting hooks off the tee ( snap and pull ) I pulled most of my approach shots into the numerous bunkers on the course. I never made a putt over six feet and on the last couple of holes I hit three absolutely perfect shanks with my 52 wedge. The weather was lovely, the company great the golf was the s###s so what was the main difference in the two rounds ?
Plain and simple, a wee word called TEMPO I had nothing the resembled tempo during my round, I even struggled trying to figure out how to take the club away from the ball. I'm sure this happens to us all, so I chucked this game in the can, no big deal, anyone have a remedy when you lose your tempo how to regain it on the course ??

My stock answer to this one is to make some swings with your feet together, your brain will adjust your tempo so that you do not lose balance and fall over. This drill also improves connection between the arms and torso which is another area that can ruin a swing.
